Moqui marbles are small, round, iron oxide concretions found in the Navajo Sandstone formation, which is located in various areas of the Colorado Plateau in the western United States, including Snow Canyon State Park in Utah. They are also known as "Moki balls," "Thunderballs," or "Shaman Stones." they range in size from a few millimeters to several centimeters in diameter and are typically reddish-brown in color, although they can also be gray or black. They were formed millions of years ago when minerals precipitated out of groundwater and formed around sand grains or other organic matter. They have been used by Native American tribes for ceremonial purposes, and they are believed to have healing properties. Today, they are popular among rock collectors and are often sold in souvenir shops in the Southwest. However, it is important to note that collecting rocks or other natural objects from state or national parks is generally prohibited and can result in fines or other penalties. If you're ever in Snow Canyon, get up on top of the rock formations and see if you can find them.
