The falls are located near the town of Gunlock, Utah, which is approximately 15 miles northwest of St. George. lt is a waterfall that runs only rarely over around the dam that makes Gunlock reservoir. It flows down a series of rocky cliffs into a pool. The water comes from the nearby Gunlock Reservoir, which is fed by the Santa Clara River. The falls are surrounded by sparse trees, shrubs, and even wildflowers occasionally, making it a picturesque setting.

 

One of the main attractions of Gunlock Falls is the swimming hole at the base of the falls. The pool is deep enough for swimming and jumping, but is very dangerous. Gunlock Falls is also a popular spot for hiking and exploring. There are several trails that lead to the falls, including the Gunlock Falls Trail, which is a 1.5-mile round trip hike that takes visitors through the surrounding wilderness and along the river.
